CACAO

HEALTH BENEFITS
HISTORY
Native to the deep tropical regions of Central and South America, cacao was named "theobrama" literally meaning
"food of the gods."
It has a rich history of being used in rituals, ceremonies and even as a form of currency by the Mayans and Aztecs. It was revered as a medicine especially for the heart and spirit. Unfortunally as cacao spread across Europe and refined sugar and powdered milk were added the medicinal value began to deteriote. The state of much of the chocolate sold around the world today with all its additives, preservaties, colorings, is a far cry from what cacao can be in its pure, raw state.
